I am writing to make you aware of an instance of allegations being made on a post in the Cardston Rant and Rave Group on Facebook on Tuesday, March 13 in the evening.
The post alleged that there has been a pattern of inappropriate interactions between young students. The post further alleges that our staff and administration have actively ignored the situation. We would like to reiterate what our policy and procedures are in these situations.
Our primary concern is always the well being of our students. Where incidents, like the one alleged in the post, occur we have policies and procedures in place to ensure the safety of all students. We have professional educators and counselors in place who value and care for all students. We connect parents with school administration, the school counselor, and the teacher to ensure that the best situation for all students is implemented. Parents of the students involved are made aware of the situation and we work with the parents to find solutions that resolve the issue.
We invite all concerns from parents to be brought to the administration so that they can be discussed in confidence. Thank you to all those who encouraged the parent to bring this concern to administrators. Out of concern for this parent we have invited them to meet with us multiple times to discuss their concerns and allegations, but they so far have not met with administrators.
It is important for you to know that we will always take whatever steps are necessary to ensure the safety of our students and staff - this is our top priority. I want to assure you that Cardston Elementary School continues to be a safe, secure learning environment for your child. I also want to commend students, staff, and you as parents for the way that you have all responded to these allegations so far. We recognize that we are partners with you as parents in educating your children and in making our community a welcoming, safe, caring, and respectful environment for all.
If you have any questions, please contact me at the school at 403-653-4955.
